Anonymous Review

The movie Anonymous was quite a movie.  I liked the whole twist on Shakespeare.  The fact that William did not write the plays does make you doubt the fact that he created them.  He seems to be just an actor who cared only about himself.  I believe it may be possible someone else wrote the plays, but for now I think I will stick with the facts.

I also liked this movie without comparing it to the history.  The flipping back and forth in time was not the best though.  I had troubles at first understanding what time period we were watching.  The titles were quite confusing as well. I have never really understood the different titles and what they mean but to me Earl of whatever means child of the queen noone can know about. :) It is a very sad story but the person I feel no sympathy for is the Earl of Oxford's wife and father-in-law.  She married a man and then belittled him and expected he would be a good husband. The father-in-law got what he deserved also.

  1. I liked the movie too, Earl is another name for Lord, Duke, Master, just a title. I also believe that Shakespeare wrote the plays.

  2. I agree with you about the father-in-law. The father-in-law should've told the truth. It wouldn't have been incest, at least. This part of the storyline really is rather like Oedipus.

  3. Agreed! They got what was coming for them. And I love the irony of the brother-in-law has to enjoy all of Shakespeare/Earl of Oxford's plays. I love that! And he can't tell King James the truth! Ah sweet Karma!

  4. As confusing, predictable, and over/under done as it was, it wan't to bad. But your right. at least the brother in law gets his. But damn, Now the Earl of Oxford feels Oedipus's guilt. (But royalty is way weirder then that.)
