Grapes of Wrath Comparison

This book and movie are similiar and yet different. Mother in the movie is exactly how I pictured her reading the book. She is a strong mother-figure how takes charge and has pride. Rose of Sharon is also the same. She is a dreamer and a complainer. These two are the only two characters that seem the same in both the book and the movie.
The black and white does not help the movie. It creates an old time feeling but the scenes like the sunset and the beautiful fruit trees are lost. I would like to see this movie in color, it would be interesting.
The movie is also out of order when compared to the book. The the two different camp scenes are switched. I think this may have been done to show hope or give the viewer a view of the characters struggles and what little can bring them hope. The movie version of the kids is also not what I imagined when I read the book. The seem so much more adventurous in the book. Uncle John also seems older than I imagined, and thinner. He has the same attitude as I imagined though.

  1. This book/movie sounds interesting. i've always been into the great depression and the dust bowl and how people struggled to fight through all of it. It just shows how strong we are when things get tough.
