Tragic Hero

A tragic hero to me is a person in a tragedy who is the cause of the tragedy. Okonkwo definately fits this profile.  He causes the exile of his family, the death of his son's best friend, and he kills himself for which the whol village suffers.  He causes many tragedies throughout his life many because off his fears.  I would not consider him a hero towards the end of his life because of the fact he is very selfish and a hero to me is unselfish.  I somewhat feel sorry for Okonkwo but then again I do not.  He tries to be better than his father and pushes himself to far.  His problems are mostly psychological and that is what causes him to be such a harmful person at the end of his life.
