Extremely Lour and Incredibly Close 19-45

So far I am still really enjoying this book. The main character is really hilarious. Oskar is really creative but really smart. His story is really sad. The part that was the most depressing was when he talks about his dads last messages. I know from the previews that his dad dies in the 9-11 twin tower crash, but the book doesn’t say it that well. I am also not sure why there is random pictures in the middle of the book. Maybe I missed the explaination. I felt so bad for the kid and also for his grandmother. They are both really depressed. Oskar is really stubborn though and will not let his mother talk to other guys without wanted her to feel guilty. I find that brattish. I know that is not a word but it is what I think off. I think it is interesting that he feels must lie in order to go find the lock and it is even more interesting how he found the key. This kid is incredibly smart at such a young age. I would never be able to do the math in my head the way he does. I am hoping he finds the lock soon.

  1. Extremely LOUR?? hehe but yes it sucks kind of how the previews for a good book can ruin it! I think though that it makes me want to read it more because it seems like a great story. I doubt he finds the lock soon though, because that would defeat the purpose of the whole book if he finds it right away! But yes I'm looking forward to hearing more about this story.

  2. LOL LOUR!!! yeah the movie does look good so the book is probably even better. He will find the lock with 40 pages left, just a guess. It did look like an excellent story.

  3. So I'm reading that too, and the I think the pictures are trying to explain things he can't put into words. Like the picture of Hamlet is explaining his love of the play. I'll comment more later

  4. I will not lie, ELaIC is starting to sink in a sound like a good read. I can't really help but compare it to other books I've heard about have never read. I can't name them becuase I can't remember them, but almost all of them have the same plot line.
A parent has died and left their child to follow their path that they left and learns about growing up on the way. However, as much as I say that the story is over done, It's really not a bad idea, actually it's often a great Idea.

  5. I'm really enjoying this book as well, but at the part where Oskar isn't letting his mom talk to other guys isn't supposed to be brattish. I mean he just lost his dad, he's stil probably expecting him to walk through the door at anytime. I agree that Oskar is incredibly smart, maybe that's why his narration is all jumbled; because of all the things going through his head.

  6. This book sounds very interesting! I've never heard of the movie so that may be something to look into watching. You seem to describe the book very well and that helps with the explanation and understanding of what it is about.
