Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close 1- 19

Wow first post in a long while.  I started this new IRA book because I saw the movie previews and had previously hear it was a really good book. I must say that the books main character is sort of a space case.  I guess I have no room to judge seeing how I am the same way.  His thoughts are very interesting and jump very quickly, but are very thurough.  So far this book is sad due to the death, the constant death.  Since the book starts of on a ride to the graveyard its really sad.  I really like the style of writing of the author.  Jonathan Safran Foer has kept this book very interesting so far and the book constantly has me wanting to read more.  I can't wait to read more on this book and fear I may read it too fast and need a new book before the end of the quarter.

  1. I have also seen the previews, but it really makes me sad because it is another 9-11 movie. However, I know there is a different meaning to the book, then September 11. 2001. I know you just started reading this, but I wonder how the book and the movie are going to connect or does the movie completely offset the book, and not get the right story.

  2. Hmmmm... I also heard of the movie having good reviews. I agree with Katie that it is a 9/11 movie/book, but has a sub-story involving a father-son relationship. As for me, making a story of off 9/11, to me, is not really worth watching. but that's as maybe. Still, can't judge a book by it's cover. And it might be interesting.

  3. Okay so there will possibly be three of us reading the book, we will have to compare ntoes. Maybe we wil have to go see the movie as a class "field trip"!
