In this play there are many lies and much diseption. The guys all have a love and yet they all keep it secret. The girls don't love the men I think, yet they act like they do. This is one example of secrets and diseption. Another would be the switching of the gifts and the costumes. If you had feelings why would you hide. It seems like they are all trying to play each other to see who is the smartest. This really says a lot about love and truth. They might have been in love but they did not show trust and give the truth. It is a contest of wits this entire play. You are made fun of for a simple mistake or the way you say a word. Today's society is the same way. We don't trust each other enough to love, some even care more about becoming smart and less about being happy. I guess maybe being the smartest is happiness to you, but spending life alone doesn't seem fun.
